Lagging for a month, maybe more.. anyone else?
Well I'm living some bad lag problems really for last month, maybe even more. Like in every 10 secs, my ping hits to 1,500 and then turns to normal again in a few seconds. But this is the normal situation now. I mean I also lag more sometimes that freezes me up for like a minute (and if I dont error, means I'm really lucky), or a lag that locks up my skills. So at the beginning, I was thinking that they were gonna fix it soon, after like 2 weeks they made a network maintanence so I thought like "ok, they're fixing it". But I was wrong. Even then "the duping" came. And they remove reconnection also. So think about I lag really bad, but still try to continue my normal life in GW, and my last only guarantee goes away. Now one thing left that I'd heard before /stuck emote works when you lag also. So now, I write down it like in every few mins praying it works..
Now you can tell its only your lag but I made a research and my connection is ok. Also I dont live any problem while using normal internet. And I got also many friends in game that lives same problem with me.
So, I've just wanted to know, if anyone else living these problems, and really and really, does Arena Net aware of this problem? And are you working on these lag problems to fix them?? Or, we just need to stop hoping that you gonna fix it, and leave this game really.
You know I really dont want to leave this game, I got lots of memories here. So many good friends, so many good times. But I dont think really that Arena Net knows what does it mean "To Play With Lag"! or do they know how many people around in GW that waits someone to make a mistake to call him/her as "noob". I've always tried to play with my friends to enjoy more, to make it more fun, to finish it much better and more and more.. But when I got lag, I watched my team (my friends) dying becoz of my mistake, which is actually caused of lag. And this really feels very bad, coz they're spending their time to make that farm, elite mission, or whatever we're in. And becoz of me, actually becoz of my lag, we all fail. Does Arena Net knows how worse it feels really?
But you know there aren't always friends around to group, so you can also just group with someone that you dont know. And then this means there is always someone waiting for someone to make mistake. Normallay I dont give chance to this like people to tell me something bad. Not with arguing with them, but making my best in front of them. But with this lag, how much good I can play? Does Arena Net knows really how much it hurts when a noob cals you noob? And you can't answer them becoz you really made a mistake, but just becoz of lag!
So, I hope you working on this lag problems. I just hope it becoz I dont want to leave this game. Not trying to thread you by telling I'm gonna leave this game if you dont. I know it doesnt mean something for you if one leaves. I just hope you fix it soon, becoz I don't want to leave the game and be away of my friends.
And will be happy really, if Gaile Gray tells something about these problems.

What you describe does happen to me sometimes, I've never found an answer for why either. The problem is that its not my fault (I've got the fastest connection my ISP will give me) and its not completely ArenaNet's fault (they've got an ISP too afterall) so everyone is kinda stuck. I know what you mean when you say the lag makes you make mistakes ... rubber-banding and other problems really makes the game difficult to play when you are lagging ...
The only thing you can really do is hope ArenaNet and their ISP work together to improve their side of the connection. Other than that, try not to play during peak times. By that I mean
A) Don't play when everyone in your house and/or neighborhood is also using the internet cause the network is usually shared throughout the street or block
B) Don't do important stuff when everyone is trying to play Guild Wars like event weekends because ANet's side is slow then
C) Try and avoid things like network throttling by your ISP (some companies reduce the bandwidth available to you at certain times) - try and find an ISP that's reliable
D) make sure you're not running other programs that connect to the internet - if your ping is getting really bad spikes one thing that is *sometimes* the cause is programs checking for updates - like antivirus and firewall apps. Don't turn it off completely but think about disabling the auto-update while playing GW. And DEFINITELY don't download stuff in the background.
Just watch the little ping circle in the corner ...

It's weird. Lately around 3pm (my time, GMT +10) my ping hits anywhere between 42,000 to... 107,000. Yes, I can take a step every 107 seconds. Before that it's at an average of around 100-200, which is definitely playable.
This lag lasts up to hours usually. It's not a network issue: I usually go and play CS: Source when it happens, and my ping is a smooth 84 or so. What the hell, Guild Wars? I'm hoping this is going to even out by the time EotN is released, but with the influx of players caused by a new release, I fear it'll only get worse. In the Tech Corner they suggested that the game has caching issues, and to re-install, but I seem to have lost my second disc, so that rules that option out. Usually I can figure these kinds of things out, but this particular problem is baffling me.

The site also said to open port 80... check the main site and see for yourself.

POS6-0.GW4.LAX1.ALTER.NET has been a blackhole for 4 days. any trace/ping that pass into that net backbone tends to not return. check you trace routes to ncsoft and anet servers, see if the connections die when it hits: 152.63.*.*
